The beach and the unusual lake-district in Stokkseyri are renowned for its beauty and divirse bird- and plant life. The beach is very popular site for hiking and bird watching. In Stokkseyri there is a campsite, swimming pool, a good lobster restaurant and a kayak rental. Visitors can explore the nature by kayaking around the lakes and marshes with or without guidence. There is also a hunting museum, family recreation park wih Icelandic farm animals and a magic garden. In centre of town you will find a rich art and cultural life. There are painting and glass galleries, a ghost centre and a Museum of Icelandic Wonders showing elves, trolls and norther lights. In town you will also find a renewated bunkhouse, Þuríðarbúð, named after a woman, Þuríður „the forman“ Einarsdóttir. A few kilometers east of Stokkseyri there is a old creamery from 1905. The only creamery in Iceland still with its original equipment which are operational and is demonstrated to visitors. The museum is open on the weekends from 1 o´clock to six o´clock.
