Skaftafell National Park

Southeast, Skaftafell
(+354) 478-1627

785 Fagurholsmyri

Skaftafell national park is located by the roots of Vatnajökull the biggest glacier in Iceland and also in Europe for that matter. But don’t worry it won’t melt in one day so you can have a worriless night. However in sleepless nights you can hear the glacier crawling onwards and renewing itself, is sort of like a humming sound. The camping site is very popular especially the location.

The area is quite big and can also take trailers and caravans. The parking area is just by the camping site so not much walking.

In Skaftafell there is also a tourist information office and also a small shop with both souvenirs and food related essentials. In Svínafell there is a Swimming pool (7km)

Season: may 1st - sept 30th
