The Hostel is situated in beautiful landscape; mountains, moor land, natural hot springs and from the coast line you can see many small islands. Reykhólar is a perfect place for nature lovers. There is a lot of vegetation in the area and you will find hillsides covered in wild berries in the autumn. There are many marked walking paths in the area and many of these lead to historic sites such as churches, farms and old trading routes. In the area is a very variable bird life; it is simply a birdwatchers paradise. The Whooper swan, which is the biggest Icelandic bird, nests in this part of the country. The main nesting place of the birds´ king, the sea eagle, is also in this area. Next Hostels: Önundarfjörður, 180 km - Stykkishólmur, 180 km.
