Stykkishólmur is the largest town on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Fishing is the main occupation, but it is also an important trading centre. Stykkishólmur is surrounded by a very picturesque landscape and islands. The Hostel is in one of the oldest houses in the town and has been completely renovated. On the Hostel´s own boat you can visit an ornithologist´s paradise, something never to be forgotten. You will see Cormorants diving, Puffins burrowing and Kittiwakes nesting on their basalt cliff haven. You will explore the island of Purkey, once a thriving sheep farming community but sadly, a thing of the past. Fishing? No problem. You can drop your line over the side and presto! fish ready for barbequeing back on the Hostels patio. Next Hostel: Grundarfjörður 46, km
