On volcanoes and practical jokes
4/19/10 12:34
The volcanic eruption in Iceland has affected the whole world. This small Island volcanic activity in the middle of the Atlantic ocean has affected the air travel of millions of people. Even games in the championship league have been affected. The Football club Barcelona for instance had to take a bus all the way to Italy to play against Inter. Also the World champions in handball the France national team where for example stuck here in Iceland for some time before they where able to fly to Trondheim in Norway of all places and take a bus all the way to France.

Even Mr. John Cleese the famous Monty Phyton actor has to take a taxi from Oslo to Brussels. But the total cost of that trip was around 5.000 USD.  This has also affected Whitney Houston’s plans of performing in Dublin.

Some have taken this very seriously and don’t like Mother Nature or rather Iceland to affect their travel plans as you see below

But yet others try to see the funny side of things and make some jokes about it

John Cleese said for example “Icelanders don’t know how to control their banks and their volcanoes that is for sure.”
In regards to the IceSave payments it is said that because C was not a part of the Icelandic alphabet it was a total misunderstanding “We said we wanted Cash not Ash”
Also that because of the total collapse of the Icelandic banks there came this joke  “the last wishes of the Icelandic banks was that their ashes will be spread over Europe”
