A surprise awaited a housewife in Reykjanesaer when she went out into her families collapsible camper that was stationed in her backyard. Inside the camper she found a man snoring peacefully whom she had no recollection of knowing. The housewife decided to wake him up and ask what he was doing there to which the man replied in foreign accented English with a sleepy voice:
„I don‘t have any money.“
And then he went back to sleep.
According to the local news site which interviewed the housewife suspected the man had stayed there for a few days as she‘d seen a plastic bag with food that she‘d thought her husband had brought in there and had caused some bafflement in her mind as to why he didn‘t bring it into their home.
Unfortunately the news site didn‘t carry any news of how long the uninvited guest who had only an extra pair of shoes but no socks or coat on as described by the housewife, had stayed after his discovery or whether he could finish his sleep.
Surviving Iceland recommends that if you want to stay in a tent or a camper in somebody‘s garden then please ask permission from the owners and be sure to have socks on.
