Religion

Over 80% of the icelandic population belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church but few practice their faith regularly. The Lutheran church is part of the state and therefore there's is no seperation of church and state in Iceland. Most locals will attend church only for special events such as weddings, funerals and christenings but very few will actually attend sunday mass.

Allthough many icelandic people don't actively practice their religion they are quite spiritual and most of them believe in a higher power of some kind. This is often followed by deeply ingraned superstition that often comes from the old folk lores and myths that are so rich in the culture.
