Surviving Iceland

There is a bus system in Reykjavík called Straeto. Bus stops and buses are marked with the S logo (S for Straeto). Straeto connects Reykjavik to the suburbs and surrounding towns. Buses have a very distinctive orange colour:

make sure you have 280 ISK in coins with you!
The busdrivers don't change money.

Tickets may be purchased from the driver or from the main terminal at Hlemmur.

 The straeto web site does not have an english version but you can see the schedules for all buses here - the buses are numbered 1-58.
