We party at home before we hit the town

Because of the high alcohol price in nightclubs people tend to drink as much as they can at home before going out. This is done to save money and more common with younger people then the older generations. At a typical house party guests sit together, listen to music, talk and drink alcohol. There is usually no dancing until perhaps at the end of the party. It is quite common for someone to bring a guitar along to a party for some sing-alongs.

A helpful Tip

Good english skills

Most Icelanders (especially those from their teenage years through their fifties) speak fluent English. In fact, they welcome the opportunity to practice it.
